Devon Mozer

In 2020, under the name Demzer, Devon released his debut album, Disturbing. The project represented the culmination of years of self-teaching, experimentation, and creative development. Following the release, he moved to Bucharest and worked extensively within the Romanian music industry, creating commercial pop music between 2021 and 2023 for Demoga Music.

Although the experience provided valuable insight into professional songwriting and music production, the commercial environment ultimately proved incompatible with his artistic vision. Seeking a more authentic creative path, Devon left Bucharest and returned to his hometown to start again from zero.

Devon joined forces with two long-time creative collaborators: Drimi, a well-known Hungarian YouTuber and multidisciplinary creator, and David Erni (E-DAE), a producer, artist, and childhood friend who grew up in the same village as Devon. Together, they founded Sick Slack Records.

Back home, he transformed an old house owned by his parents into a fully functioning recording studio, rebuilding his career independently and reconnecting with the reasons he fell in love with music in the first place. This became the first true home of what would eventually evolve into Sick Slack Records.

The journey, however, was far from smooth. Following personal conflicts with his parents, Devon was forced to leave both the house and the studio he had built there. What could have been the end of the project instead became the beginning of a new chapter.

With limited resources but a shared vision, the team relocated their equipment to Drimi’s property. In a small shed behind the house, they built their second studio entirely by hand—insulating the walls, installing electrical wiring, and transforming the space into a professional creative environment. Every piece of equipment from the original studio was moved and rebuilt there.

It was inside this second studio that the collaborative album Katarzis was created. Developed jointly by Devon, David, and Drimi, the project became a defining moment for Sick Slack Records and helped establish the collective as one of the most recognized creative forces in their local music scene. More importantly, it proved that independent artists working outside traditional industry structures could create meaningful work and build a dedicated audience on their own terms.

As the project continued to grow, Devon and David made the difficult decision to move to Switzerland in pursuit of new opportunities and a more sustainable future. Starting over once again, they built their third studio in Elsau while balancing the realities of immigrant life. To support themselves and continue investing in their music, both worked in construction, often spending long days on building sites before returning home to work on songs, recordings, and creative projects late into the night.

The transition brought significant challenges. There were periods of uncertainty, financial pressure, setbacks, and moments when continuing seemed impossible. Yet those same struggles strengthened the resilience and determination that had always defined the project. Through years of persistence, sacrifice, and continuous reinvention, Devon and David gradually transformed their vision into something sustainable.

The philosophy behind the label draws significant inspiration from the book The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin, which emphasizes creativity as a process of discovery rather than a pursuit of validation. Sick Slack expands on these principles through its own artistic framework, developed collaboratively by Devon Mozer and David Erni, encouraging creators to prioritize authenticity, curiosity, and emotional truth over commercial predictability.

Today, Devon Mozer continues to create music as an independent artist while helping shape the vision of Sick Slack Records. His work combines modern production, emotional storytelling, and a commitment to artistic integrity, reflecting a career built not on shortcuts or trends, but on persistence, reinvention, and creative freedom.

Devon’s ultimate goal is to channel the profound creative energy he experiences during the act of creation and translate it into music that resonates deeply with others. He believes that music has the power to connect people to something greater than themselves, and his purpose as an artist is to create experiences that allow listeners to feel the same sense of inspiration, freedom, wonder, and transcendence that he feels when a song comes to life.
